Emma Ellen Wornom was the 9th of 14 children born to Rev. Charles & Jane (Gilmour) Wornom. She married John James Adair on Feb. 5, 1871 in Warren County, Illinois. They were married by her father, who was a Methodist minister. To this union were born three children: Lottie (1872-1931, married "Ben" Aukerman), Charles William (1874-1930, married Julia Jackson) and Josephine E (born 1918). John initially farmed, but then turned to carpentry as his occupation. Following John's death in 1915, Emma went to live with her oldest daughter, Lottie, in Lancaster County, Nebraska. It is probable that Emma died in Nebraska. Lottie, after her mother's death, relocated to California and died there at Hawthorne, as did her husband.
