Ernest Shackleford, son of Murrel and Mary Shackleford, was born near Iberia, Mo. January 28, 1890: died at his home near Capps April 26,1935, being at the time of his death 45 years, 2 months and 26 days old.
Ernest was united in marriage to Miss Naoma Short in the year 1912, and to this union one son, Walter was born. His wife preceded him in death in 1916. On Nov. 5, 1919, he was again married, this time to Esther Barnhart Crismon, and to this union four children were born, namely: Leonard,
Mary, Perry and Juanita. Perry died in infancy.
Besides the wife and children he is survived by his aged mother, four brothers and four sisters, namely: Wiley, Robert, Roscoe, John, Mrs. Susie Setxer, Mrs. James Forrester, Mrs. Sallie Golden,and Mrs. James Gardner, all of Iberia.
Ernest answered the call to his country during the World War and performed active service in the United States Navy from Jan. 10, 1918 to June 19,1919. He united with the Humphrey's Creek Christian Church in 1920.
Adams & Casey, Iberia funeral directors, had charge of his funeral services and burial. Services were held from the Iberia Nazarene church Sat. afternoon at 3 o'clock, after which the body was conveyed to the Iberia cemetery for burial.
