Edmund A. Zettler, 48, vice-chairman of the Wood County Board of Supervisors and long prominent in the rural life of the county, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The Town of Richfield supervisor, who had served on the County Board continuously since April, 1939, was admitted to the hospital Feb. 14, suffering from a ruptured appendix. He was released Feb. 20, but four days later was back in the hospital for treatment of complications which caused his death.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church here at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. G. M. Krueger officiating. Burial will take place at Hillside cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects at the Hansen Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.
A resident of this area virtually all his life, Edmund A. Zettler was born in the Town of McMillan March 30, 1902, the son of the late Mr. and Mr. John Zettler. He received his education in the township.
He was employed for a brief period in Milwaukee and St. Paul before going to the Town of Richfield to make his home 22 years ago. His marriage to Ella Paul took place in Marshfield Sept. 26, 1932.
At the time of his death he was a director of the Central Wisconsin Breeders Association. In addition to being vice-chairman of the Wood County Board, a post to which he was first elected in April, 1949. and re-elected last spring, he was chairman of the county's Insurance Committee and a member of the Salary and Grievance and Planning Committees.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Eugene Zettler, Auburndale; two brothers, Alvin and Norman Zettler, St. Paul, and four sisters, Mrs. Art (Emma) Bruckert and Mrs. Betty Howard, Marshfield, and Mrs. Lawrence (Frieda) Koppy and Mrs. Truman (Julia) Moody, St. Paul.
