Julius Zettler, a young farmer residing on the Kremberg farm north of Hewitt, was fatally injured Thursday after noon by a premature explosion of dynamite sticks which he intended to use in blasting stumps. He was removed to St. Joseph's Hospital in this city but was beyond human help and death claimed him that evening.
Deceased was twenty-five years of age and leaves a wife and one small child. Interment took place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Hewitt Monday, Rev. Ristoff [sic] of Auburndale having charge of the services. George Zettler of this city, and uncle; Adolf and Frank Zettler and Fred Bliesner, all cousins, went to Hewitt to attend the funeral.
The accident appears to have resulted from the fact that Mr. Zettler carried eight sticks of dynamite and several explosive caps in his hands at the same time. One of the caps exploded and set off the rest of the material, burning and mangling him horribly about the body and legs.
