Peter "Pete" A. Sonski, 75, of Goodwin Drive, Somersville section of Somers, beloved husband of 41 years of Rita (LaBreche) Sonski, died Sunday (April 28, 2002) at home. Born in Somersville he was a lifetime resident of the community and attended the University of Connecticut. Peter helped operate the family farm raising tobacco and cattle for most of his life and was co-owner of Sonski Brothers Builders before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asian & Pacific Theatres. Peter was a lifetime communicant of All Saints Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4303, Holy Name Society and Past Commander of the Buck Dubiel Post #101 American Legion. He also was a member of the former Somersville Fire Dept. Peter was devoted to farming, the love of his life. Besides his wife, Rita, he is survived by a son, Peter A. Sonski Jr. and his wife Teressa of Beltsville, MD; a daughter, Barbara Damon and her husband Mark of Enfield; eight grandchildren, Timothy, Rachel, Elise, John, Brianna, David, Regina and Michael; two brothers, Alex B. Sonski and his wife Susan of Somersville and Albin J. Sonski and his wife Anne of Bloomfield; a sister-in-law, Margaret Sonski of Somers; a brother-in-law, Frank Legienza of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Longin Sonski and a sister, Ann Legienza. Family and friends will gather Friday 9 a.m. at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street (Route 190) for a funeral procession to All Saints Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Somers Center Cemetery with Military Honors.
