Bertha Baartman, 81, of Rock Valley died Sunday, December 14, 1986, in a hospital in Rock Valley.
Services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, in the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley. Rev. Fred Gunnink officiated. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery under direction of Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley.
Mrs. Baartman, the former Bertha Van Maanen, was born December 17, 1904, in Rock Valley. She married Jake Baartman January 29, 1925, in Rock Valley. The couple farmed in the Rock Valley area until his death April 10, 1963. She moved into Rock Valley in 1965.
Mrs. Baartman was a member of Martha Circle of the First Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald and Wniis, both of Sioux Falls, SD, Roger of Saugus, CA, and Lawrence of Rock Valley; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Theresa) Vander Plas of Hawarden and Mrs. William (Betty Jane) Vis of Gallatin Gateway, MT; 28 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
