Funeral services being held today for Van Maanen
Funeral services for Edward Van Maanen, 73, who died at his home Sunday, July 15, will be held 1:30 pm at the First Christian Reformed church on Thursday Rev J. Byker will officiate. Burial will be at the Valley View cemetery under the direction of the Porter Funeral Home.
Mr Van Maanen was born in the Netherlands, December 31, 1888. He came to this country at the age of 4 with his parents. He married Hattie De Vries February 23, 1921, at Rock Valley. They farmed near here until 1952, when they moved to Rock Valley.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include the widow; four sons, Gerrit of Bellflower, Calif., John, Henry and Jim of Rock Valley; two daughters, Mrs Hubert Landegent (Wilmina) and Mrs Art Vanden Bosch (Henrietta) both of Rock Valley; 20 grandchildren, one brother and five sisters.
