Miss Erma Affeld
Miss Erma H. Affeld, 61, of 204 Sheffield, a lifelong Valparaiso resident, died at Porter Memorial Hospital after a one-year illness.
Born here April 6, 1911, she was a daughter of Ernest O. and Jennie (Bastel) Affeld.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a Sunday school instructor at the church and was president of the Co-Op Circle of the church. She was past president of The Business and Professional Women's Club and was past secretary of the Valparaiso Toastmistress Club. Miss Affeld was employed for 20 years as a medical assistant by Dr. Theodore Makovsky.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert E. and Vernon L.; three sisters, Miss Treva L. Affeld, Miss Florence M. Affeld and Mrs. Virgil H. (Rosella) Hess, all of Valparaiso.
Besides the parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Fred and Ernest.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wetmore Funeral Home with clergy of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
