She was born April 11, 1859 in the Leinining/Castell area of Llano County, Texas on April 11, 1859 She was baptised Jan 30, 1860 in Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Gillespie Co, Texas. Her parents Adolph Albert Reichenau and wife Katherine Hedwig Arhelger were pioneers and had moved from Live Oak Creek in Gillespie County to the remote and unsettled area in Llano County in late 1856. Her sister Emma was born their in 1857. The family later moved to the unsettled area of Big Saline Valley in Kimble County where Ida was raised until about 1870 when they were driven out by Indians. They then moved to Hedswig's Hill in Mason County, Texas and then to Simmonsville Community in Mason County, Texas. Ida and the other children got their schooling in a picket school house. Ida was confirmed March 29, 1874 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mason, Mason Co, Texas. Ida married Charles Louis "Karl" Martin Dec. 3, 1885. They had six children: Walter George Max 1886; Rudolph Edwin 1887; Seth Paul Herman Emil 1889; Carl Albert 1890; Paul Henry 1892; and Anna Katherine 1893. Ida died June 29, 1936 in Mason County, Texas at their ranch. She was buried in the Martin Family Cemetery.
