Max was born July 23, 1867 in Big Saline Valley, Kimble County, Texas. His birth was recorded as Henry Louy Max Rienthen. His baptism Feb 26, 1871 at Castell/Hilda Church, Mason Co, Texas and he was listed as Henry Louis Max. His sponsors were Heinrich Leifeste, Louis Eckert, and Carolina Dannheim. His family was forced out of Kimble County by Indians while he was still a toddler and they moved to Hedwig's Hill and later to Simmonsville Community, Mason County, Texas in 1876. Max married Emelie "Millie" Ruegner December 12, 1894 in Mason. She was born June 11, 1874 in Mason to John F. Ruegner and Fredricka Stuckey. They had two children Arche and Milton Reichenau. Max died April 15, 1951 in Fredericksburg leaving Millie a widow until her death in 1965.
