Augusta was born in 1854 in Live Oak Creek Settlement in Gillespie County, Texas. She was the fourth child of Adolph Reichenau and Katherine Arhelger. She was the oldest girl to survive. Her family moved to Llano County and later Big Saline Valley in Kimble County. The Indians chased the family out and they moved to Hedwigs Hill and later Simonsville Community in Mason Co., Texas. She married Louis Eckert about 1872. Their first child Estelle was born in their home in the Shipp Creek Community "Crooked Creek", Mason Co, Texas about 1872. The little girl ate poison berries and died. She was about three years old when she died. Louis and Augusta had four children by the 1880 census: Estelle 1872-1875, Alfred Adolph 1873, Emma 1875, and William Alexander "Alex" in 1878. They had three more children born in Mason County : Max 1882, Mack Henry 1888 and Harry 1889. They moved to San Antonio and their last child Edna Kate was born there in 1894. Louis died after Edna was born and before the 1900 census when Augusta was listed as a widow, and had 4 children still at home. In 1910 her daughter Edna and grandson lived with her and Augusta was 54 years old. In 1920 she 64 and living with Edna and her grandson. In the 1920 census she was 75 and living with her daughter Edna and her husband and their family. Augusta live to the age of 91 and died in Feb 1946.
