Charles was the son of Charles Martin 1828 -1879 and Anna Jane Henriette Mebus. Both of his parents were born in Germany and immigrated to Texas. Charlie was baptised Feb.17, 1862 in Castell/Hilda Church, Mason County, Texas. He married Ida Charlotte Sophie Reichenau Dec 3, 1885 in Mason County, Texas. They had six children: Walter, Rusolph, Seth, Carl, Paul, and Anna. Ida died in 1936 and was buried in the Martin Cemetery. He died Feb. 16, 1940 at Hedwigs Hill, Mason County, Texas and was buried by Ida in the Martin Cemetery.
