Mrs. Stokes was born in Scranton, a daughter of the late Leo and Sara McKnight Collins. She was a homemaker, spending time taking care of all her family.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Stokes; two daughters, Brenda Poston (Joel) of Coward and Karen McDonald of Lake City; two sons, Timmie Cook of Coward and Charlton Durant Cook, Jr. (Rochelle) of Effingham; three stepdaughters, Teresa Stokes of Lexington, Donna Carpenter (Fred) of Pelion and Rita Lawson (David), also of Pelion; one stepson, Gary Stokes of Lexington; five sisters, Ella Mae Matthews (Bill) of Scranton, Illa Mae Matthews of Scranton, Elmer Jean Floyd of Florence, Mary McCutcheon (James) of Kingstree and Shelvia Jean Sims (Johnny) of Turbeville; six brothers, Collie Collins of Coward, Dovelt Collins (Doris) of Coward, C.B. Collins (Faye) of Florence, Stanley Collins (Wanda) of Florence, Willard Collins (Chris) of Scranton and Harold Collins of Florence; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at the Faith Holiness Church in Scranton. Graveside services will follow in Matthews Cemetery in Coward.
Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2007, at the family's home at 711 Woodstream Road in Effingham.
