Robert Rodgers Dies Suddenly
Robert Rodgers, 71, of Sanford, Man. died suddenly Thursday in St. Boniface hospital
Born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland, Mr. Rodgers came to Canada in 1883, settling in Sanford
where he farmed until moving into town in 1926. Active in the work of the United church at Sanford,
Mr. Rodgers served as Sunday school superintendent for many years and as an elder for 40 years.
Besides his widow Nellie he is survived by one daughter Mrs. Cecil Church of St. Catherines, Ont.,
one son Clarence of Sanford, four brothers John and Hill both of Winnipeg, Thomas of Sanford and
David of Carman; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah McFee and Mrs. Jane Pirt both of Winnipeg and
Mrs. Mary Parker of Sanford and Five grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Sanford United church with burial in
the local cemetery. Rev. Alice Walker will officiate and the A. B. Gardiner funeral home,
Winnipeg is in charge of arrangements.
