Andrew Beal was born on December 2, 1877 near Kenesaw, Nebraska. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed as a youth in the Zion Lutheran Church near Kenesaw, Nebraska.

He was married on November 27, 1901 to Maria Pauline Hagemann, who preceded him in death on October 25, 1934. To them were born eight sons and four daughters, ten of whom are living. A twin son died in infancy and the oldest son, Arthur, died on April 13, 1941.

Mr. Beal and family resided on a farm in Adams County, Nebraska until the spring of 1917 when they moved to Phillips County, Colorado, to the farm ten miles north of Holyoke which was the family home until three years ago.

Mr. Beal suffered a stroke of paralysis in August 1940, resulting in the loss of his speech as well as the use of his right side. After his illness, he made his home with his daughters and was at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Rutt at Brighton, Colorado at the time of his death. He had sustained another stroke on December 28 and passed away on December 30, 1944 at 10 a.m. He was 67 years, and 28 days of age.

The surviving children are Elmer and Kermit, serving in the United States Navy in the South Pacific, Mrs. Esther Finke of Holyoke, Albert of Holyoke, LaVern of Ovid, Oscar of Amherst, Lester of Louisville, Kentucky, Mrs. Evelyn Rutt of Brighton, Mrs. Helen Condreay of San Francisco, California and Mrs. Glen Chandler of Long Beach, California. Two brothers, Richard of Hastings, Nebraska and Emil of Kenesaw, Nebraska also survive, as well as twelve grandchildren and other relatives.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge of Holyoke.
