DAYTON, Tenn., April 14.–Robert La Fayette Allen, 84, died at his home here at 5:30 p.m. today after several months' illness. He was the last of seven sons of Valentine and Anne Frazier Allen, pioneer settlers of Rhea county. He was a brother of the late Chancellor V. C. Allen, of this chancery division. Mr. Allen was married in June, 1877, to Vesta Kelly, who survives him, with three daughters, Mrs. Mary Belle Gilmore, Kingman, Ariz.; Mrs. Rose Crawford and Mrs. Bess Brown, of Dayton, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the M. E. church, south, of which Mr. Allen was a member for forty-three years. Interment will be in the Buttram cemetery.
