N. Irene Atwell, 82, of Elbridge, passed away Saturday at Upstate Medical Center. A life resident of the Jordan-Elbridge area, she retired from the Elbridge Post Office as a mail carrier in 1988. She also worked as a nurse at Dobson Nursing Home in Elbridge. Irene was a former member of the Elbridge Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play bingo and watch her favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, and NASCAR. She also loved to spend time with her family. Irene is survived by her husband of 44 years, Ronald; daughters, Sandra Penird and Roxann (Daniel) Lindsay, both of Jordan; son, Tim (Cheryl) Collier of Auburn; sisters, Grace Dain of Jordan and Betty Galka of Auburn; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elbridge Community Church. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, 49 Jordan St., Skaneateles. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Elbridge Fire Department or to Jordan Ambulance.
