Lorna was born to Henry Daniel & Clara Louise Dixon Ellington August 22, 1923.

She was third in a family of 15 children, 9 boys, 6 girls. Harry Frank Joseph, Olive Marie, Stanley George (Jiggs), Kenneth William (Kenny), Richard Oliver (Dicky), Betty Jean, Arthur Raymond (Arty), William Clifford, Shirley Virginia, Clara Louise, Laverne Ella (Chubby), Vernon John, Robert Augustus (Duke) and George Edward.

She married at age 18 George William Griner on August 23, 1941 at St. James E & R Church, St. Louis. Witnesses at the wedding were Charles Heinemann, Lorraine Bickel and Earl Ploch. To this marriage was born Georgia Lorrain Griner. They were divorced.

She married James Floyd Claspill, Jr. February 12, 1944. They were married for 46 years and had 3 boys. James Floyd, III (Butch), Stanley Marvin (Stan), and Patrick Alan (Pat). All three boys fought in the VietNam War. Stan and Pat in the Army and Butch in the Marine Corps (he was a career marine).

They rented for a time on Blair Avenue, but there first home was on Garden Street in north St. Louis. The boys went to Clay Elementary School. They then bought a home at 10532 Duke Drive in Moline Acres. Where they lived out their lives.

Jimmy was a truck driver for Dan Hamm Hauling, local delivery, so he could be home with his family. He had to take Lorna everywhere she went because she did not drive. He died in 1990.

Lorna sold Stanley Home Products for awhile. Worked for St. Louis Screw & Bolt operating a Threader machine.

Her likes were Crochetting, Bingo, Bowling, playing cards. cigarettes, coffee, and to give Tupperware, Stanley Home Products and jewelry parties. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Did not miss a game on television or radio. She took her turn as Den Mother for the boys in the Cub Scouts.

She died August 2, 1998 at her son Patrick's home in Breese, Illinois after she had been sick with heart problems for a long while. She is buried next to husband James at Friedens Cemetery.

Note:--She is my mother, if you have anything to add or correct please feel free to contact me on Find-A-Grave.
