Vernon was born on October 5, 1937 the son of Henry Daniel and Clara Louise Ellington, a twin to Laverne Ella.

Other siblings are Harry Frank Joseph, Olive Marie, Lorna Theresa, Stanley George (Jiggs), Kenneth William (Kenny), Richard Oliver (Dicky), Betty Jean, Arthur Raymond (Arty), William Clifford, Shirley Virginia, Clara Louise, Robert Augustus (Duke) and George Edward.

Father Tears Out Floor of Shack in Effort to Save 20-Month-Old Son.

Vernon, 20 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Ellington. 5115 North Second street, died at City Hospital early today of injuries suffered yesterday when he fell four feet through a hole in an out-building behind his home.

The child was unconscious on arrival at the hospital, suffering from exposure and shock. An autopsy will be held.

The father said his daughter was with the baby when the accident occured. Ellington tore up the flooring of the buiding to rescue the child.

He died on June 19, 1939 age 2 and is buried on the family plot with his parents and brother Stanley in Friedens Cemetery.
