In his earlier days Henry was a woodworker doing mill work.
He married Clara Louise Dixon on October 27, 1917. They moved in together and made their home at 4912 Bulwer. He got a job working as a painter at P. D. George a paint company and Clara got a job as a wrapper in a tin manufacturing company.
They were married 27 years and had a family of 15 children, 9 boys, 6 girls. Harry Frank Joseph, Olive Marie, Lorna Theresa, Stanley George (Jiggs), Kenneth William (Kenny), Richard Oliver (Dicky), Betty Jean, Arthur Raymond (Arty), William Clifford, Shirley Virginia, Clara Louise, Laverne Ella (Chubby), Vernon John, Robert Augustus (Duke) and George Edward. They have 37 grandchildren.
They made their family home at 5118 McKissock Ave.
He had a tavern on Broadway.

"Man killed by train. Harry Ellington, 51, a laborer, was found dead yesterday morning along the Terminal railroad right-of-way near his home at 5118 McKissock Ave. Police say marks on his body indicate he had been struck by a train. The body was found by Harry Heitbrink, Terminal engineer. The victim's wife told police he left home about 3 p.m. Saturday."
Henry is buried at Friedens Cemetery on the family plot, section D, Lot 67 A & B, with Clara and their two babies, Stanley and Vernon.
