Edith Amelia Ainsworth was born April 2, 1910 in Delta County, Texas, daughter of William Thomas Ainsworth and Ellen Agnes Cummings. In 1920, the Cummings family was still living in Justice Precinct 5, Texas (Delta County). Edith's father, William, was a farmer, age 38 and her mother, Ellen, was age 39. Also living in the household were six children: Edna, age 14; Lorene, age 11; Edith, age 9; Ernest, age 6; Azel, age 4; and James, age 2 years 2 months. All members of the family were born in Texas.

On June 9, 1923, Edith, who was only age 13, married Jefferson Davis 'Buddy' Daily. In 1930, Edith and Buddy were living in Precinct 8, Texas (Hopkins County). Buddy was a cotton farmer, age 26, and born in Oklahoma. Edith was age 20, born in Texas. Living with them were four children: William Thomas, age 6; Blanche, age 4; Geraldine, age 1 year 4 months; and Buddy Junior, age 1 month; all born in Texas. The census shows that Buddy and Edith were ages 19 and 13, respectively, when they married. Ultimately they would have another child: Bobby Jene, born 1935.

Buddy died August 16, 1973 in Lawton, Oklahoma (Comanche County) and was buried in Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County). Edith died April 9, 1985 in Dallas, Texas (Dallas County) and was buried beside her husband.
