Gerald Leo Harmon peacefully passed away on July 23, 2011 with his daughter at his side. He lived a long and happy life. He resided at 1598 East 4095 South in Millcreek Township, Utah at the time of his death.
Leo was the fifth of eight children born to Sarah Ellen Horsley and Melvin Thomas Harmon. He grew up in Price, Utah and later moved to Salt Lake City as a young man at the onset of World War II.
At that time, he began courting his future wife (Mary Donaldson) and also began a forty-three-year civilian career at Hill Air Force Base, where he later became a computer-program analyst.
Leo loved tending to the flowers in his garden. He enjoyed photography and enthusiastically shared his "slide-shows" with family and friends. He loved music and dancing "cheek-to-cheek" with Mary.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and was married and sealed to his sweetheart in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 20, 1954. He enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and caring friend.
He is survived by his daughter, Jerolyn ; son-in-law, Layne Robison; grandson, Russell; sister, Bessie (Leonard) Richardson and many nieces and nephews. He will have a happy reunion with Mary, his parents and siblings, as well as many loving in-laws who have passed-on before him.
He will be remembered late in his life for the music tapes he shared and for the countless driveways he cleared from snow while well into his 80's.
A viewing will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary (3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek) on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and from 11:00-11:40 a.m. prior to the services which will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the Winder Sixth Ward Chapel (4366 South 1500 East, Millcreek Township).
Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
