Myron Melvin Harmon was born July 19, 1908 to Melvin Thomas and Sarah Ellen Horsley Harmon in Price, Carbon, Utah. He was the first born son of 8 children. He was blessed by his mothers Great Grandfather, Samuel Peckett Horsley, a pioneer in the early history of the State of Utah, He was a newspaper carrier for the Deseret News, at an early age. He only went to the 8th grade of school. He learned to work with his hands and was quite a handy man. He was good natured and always willing to help wherever needed. He quit school after the 8th grade and helped provide for his family during the depression years. He found work lighting the boilers for the Littlejohn Theaters at 16, and at 18 worked as a surveyors helper for the highway to Green River, keeping the route through Price Canyon Clear for almost 16 years. He also worked for a short time in the Castle Gate Mines. He and his brothers started up a rabbit farm and sold the meat.
He met Lena Janet Nielsen and watched her tennis matches for the high school. They married May 27, 1937 in the Manti Temple. Lena's brother Bill and Georgia Nielsen were sealed the same day. Lena was 18 and Myron was 28. Myron built a home in Price on the same block as his father, Melvin Thomas Harmon. They became the parents of 5 Children; Margaret, William Kay (Bill), Bernice, Donald Myron, & Melvin Dee, who was struck by a car and killed in 1953 at age 7 They moved to the west side of Salt Lake City, Utah in 1951. Myron found work at the Army Ordinance depot in Tooele. He wanted to work closer to home so he got a job working for the JI Case Company as a mechanic for heavy farm equipment, later he worked as a custodian for the Granite School district in Salt Lake City Schools and worked there until he retired in 1973. He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions. Young men's activity counselor, Scout Leader, Counselor in the Sunday School Presidency and secretary for the seventies, and was a High Priest. His wife of 40 years past away on her birthday October 25, 1976, after a 10 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was 58. Myron was diagnosed with Bone canser and died at age 79, Feb. 27 1988. He is buried Larkin Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Salt Lake City, Utah
