Lena Janet Nielson Harmon was born October 25, 1918 the 4th child of 9, to James William & Janette (Jennie) Davis Nielsen. She was raised in Sunnyside, a community just east of Price. They moved to Castle Gate, Utah where her father was a Post Master. She attended the schools in Price and was on the tennis team at her high school. She met Myron Melvin Harmon and married him after she graduated, May 27, 1937 in the Manti Temple, in Manti Sanpete, County, Utah. Her brother Bill and Georgia Nielsen were sealed the same day. She and Myron were parents to 5 children; Margaret Ann, William Kay (Bill), Bernice, Donald Myron, and Melvin Dee, who was hit by a car and killed at 6 years old in 1953. The family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1951. They were very active in the LDS Church and Lena held many callings, Beehive Leader, MIA chorister, and Word chorister. She was very creative and did beautiful crochet work. She also worked for Arden's dress Shop, the Darling Shop, and as a bookkeeper for Walker Bank. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and suffered for over 10 years until she died at age 58, on her birthday, October 25, 1976. She is buried in the Larken Sunset Gardens Cemetery, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
