Ethyl Mauzy Simes, 93, widow of D. Chesley Simes, died Monday in Chateau Convalescent Home. She formerly lived at 218 N. McKinley Ave.
Born in Rush County, she moved to Muncie as a child with her parents, Homer and Rosa White Mauzy, and attended Muncie schools.
Mrs. Simes at one time was employed at Branch, Rose and Brown Department Store and also was a piano teacher for many years. She was once a member of the old Jackson Street Christian Church and was a member of J.T. Club, Women's Association of Dalevile Christian Church and Jolly Eight Euchre Club.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Simes; her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Heeter; her sister, Ruth Mauzy McFadden; her sisters-in-law, Jane and Mildred Mauzy, all of Muncie; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Meeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours at the mortuary will be 3-6 p.m. today and an hour before services Wednesday.
