Information from the cemetery record for Frederick G Health.
Birth: Sep. 17, 1832
Cabell County
West Virginia, USA
Death: Nov. 18, 1889
Hill County
Texas, USA

Frederick G.L. Heath was born in Cabell Co VA which later became West Virginia. His family lived at the mouth of Upper and Lower Heaths' Creek where the creeks met the Guyandotte River. As a young boy of 7, Frederick Heath migrated with his parents and grandparents into early Missouri. While most of the family chose Platte Co. MO, Frederick's father Richard Blue Heath settled into Tom's Township, Benton Co. MO along with two of his brothers: Rev Stephen Preston Heath and Rev Jonas Blue Heath. The brothers owned adjacent sections of land. The 'call to Texas' drew his father Richard Blue Heath to settle his business in Benton County, Missouri and migrate in Spring of 1846 into early Texas, first settling into Red River County, then Cass County, then eventually Hill County, TX. Frederick and several of his brothers served the Confederacy. Frederick G.L. Heath served in the 12th Regiment, Texas Cavalry (Parsons Mounted Volunteers) along with his brothers William Spencer Heath, George Webster Heath, and James 'Thomas' Heath. His brother John G. Heath also served the Confederacy, but in a different unit under Capt Whiteside, Colonel McCord's unit.

Frederick G.L. Heath had three marriages. His first marriage was to the daughter of one of the most famous Texans, famous for her endurance against adversity with the Indians (Sarah Creath Howard). Frederick G.L. Heath married first Eugenia Howard born ca 1841 TX, the daughter of Sarah Creath and Colonel Phillip Howard. In the 1860 census for Bosque Co TX, Frederick and Eugenia are farming next door to her parents in Meridian, Bosque Co. TX. While I have not been able to locate the marriage record for Frederick and Eugenia, their first child was born Jan 1858. Frederick and Eugenia (Howard) Heath had two children before she died: Martha Louise Heath in 1858 and Josephine Heath 1859/60. It is not known when Eugenia (Howard) Heath died but it was before Aug 1870 when he shows as remarried. Researchers feel that Eugenia's mother Sarah (Creath) Howard was buried in Fort Graham Cemetery and it is likely that Eugenia may have been buried there as well. There are many unmarked graves.

Frederick G.L. Heath married 2nd by June 1865, Emmaline Gibson b.ca. 1846. They were married before June 1865 when their first child was born. They are farming in the 1870 census in Hillsboro, Hill Co. TX. Living with them in the Aug 1870 household are Louisa, Laura, William, Charles and Ella just 5 mos old. Frederick and Emmaline did in fact have at least 9 children together (listed below). Emmaline (Gibson) Heath died 16 March 1884 and is buried in the Heath Cemetery along with Frederick Heath.

After the death of second wife Emmaline, Frederick G.L. Heath married one more time. He married 19 August 1885 a woman named Elizabeth Cherry who had had a prior marriage 9 June 1880 to Little Berry Davis Sain/Sane in Johnson Co TX where both she and her mother Mariah White were living. Elizabeth's background is a bit confusing. She had a brother named Thomas Jefferson White. On his death cert in Jim Wells Co TX his mother was listed as Mariah Monday and his father as Ab White. Since Elizabeth 'first' married as Elizabeth Cherry to L.B.D. Sain who died 1 Oct 1882 in Cleburne, Johnson Co. TX, it can only be assumed that her mother Mariah Monday had a prior marriage to an Unknown Cherry before marrying Ab White. This 3rd marriage would have gone unnoticed but for the fact that Mrs. E.C. Holt (Elizabeth remarried after Fredericks death) applied for Frederick's civil war pension and wrote a letter of explanation to the pension board. They were not married too long as Frederick G.L. Heath died 18 Nov 1889, but she would have been a stepmother to his youngest children. He did not have children in this third marrriage.
