Peder P. Hammer, son of Ingeborg and Peder Hammer, was born in Melhus near Trondhjem, Norway, September 13, 1864, and died Tuesday,
August 19, 1947 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 6 days.
With his mother, one sister and two brothers, he joined his father
at Junction City in 1872 and the family proceeded to the homestead
one and one-half miles north of Norway. The parents became
charter members of Our Savior's Lutheran church that year. He was
confirmed in 1878.
On December 28, 1893, he was united in marriage to Anna Cecelia
Tosseland. To this union were born three sons and three daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Hammer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary four years ago.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alma, in May 1919, his
twin brother, Lars and a younger brother, Jonas.
Besides his wife, Anna, he is survived by his children, Phillip of
Topeka; Nellie Darlington of Shamrock, Tex., Porter A. Hammer
of Norway; Bertha I. Johnson of Courtland, and the Rev, Norman
Hammer of Burbank, Cal.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Mrs. Anna Hugos, Mrs. Einer Eastvedt and Mrs. Karen Ross; two brothers,
Ole and Alfred Hammer and a host of relatives and friends.
