Anna (Hammer) Hugos was born December 17 1861, in Trondhjem, Norway, Europe,
to Peder and Ingeborg Hammer. At the age of 11, she with her mother
and three brothers immigrated to America, coming to Norway, KS where the father
came some two years before and had homesteaded and built a dug-out.
The family lived in this dug-out several years. Upon her marriage to
John E. Hugos, they took up house keeping on the farm just south of the.
Hammer homestead. Here she spent nearly 80 years.
She is survived by four sons and three daughters: Mrs. Olga Dutton of
Norway, Miss Clara Hugos of Hillsboro, Mrs. Josie Medlin of Manhattan,
Miss Ollie Hugos of the home, Richard Hugos of Norway, Karl Hugos of
Manhattan and Lawrence Hugos of the home; 15 grandchildren; 24
greatgrandchildren; seven great-great-grand children; two sisters, Mrs. Tena Eastvedt
of Scandia and Mrs. Karen Ross of Norway and brothers Ole Hammer
of Hebron, Nebr. and Alfred Hammer of Norway, many nieces and nephews
and a host of friends.
