James Hampson

James V. Hampson, 82, of 122 First St., Pleasantville, died Saturday at the Homestead Nursing Home.

A retired farmer and veteran of World War I, he was a charter and lifelong member of the Ross George American Legion Post 9, Pleasantville, and member of Pleasant Valley Masonic Lodge 531, F & AM and Pleasantville Chapter Order of Eastern Star 97.

Survivors include his wife, Nola W. (Whitmer); two sons, James H. and Jerry R. both of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther M. Hampson, Pleasantville; two nieces and two nephews.

Private funeral services for the family will be Wednesday, 10 a.m. at the Halteman-Fett Funeral Home; the Rev. Allen V. Sutton officiating; burial in Hampson Cemetery.

Friends may call today, 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home where Pleasant Valley Masonic Lodge 531 and will hold service Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Shrine Burns Institute, Cincinnati.
