Fielding -- Florence (Flo) LaVon Godfrey Munson, 82, died Monday, September 13, 1993 in Logan.

Flo was born Jul 5, 1911 in Fielding, a daughter of George and Eliza M. Pack Godfrey.

She was a graduate of Bear River High School and LDS Seminary and attended courses at Utah State University.

On July 6, 1938 she became the bride of Elmo Doyle Munson in Fielding. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He died in April 1987.

Flo served as secretary in the Primary under four presidencies and secretary of the Mutual under two presidencies. She instructed a mini-class on writing personal histories in Relief Society and was a Relief Society Visiting Teacher.

She was a charter member of the Future Progress Guild, a member of the Garland Birthday club, a member of the Stage Coach Camp of DUP, reporter, vice-president and president of the Box Elder Branch of the National League of American Pen Women.

Mrs. Munson served in the Fielding Post Office as a clerk and later as an assistant with her two sisters from 1930-1962.

She was a news correspondent, photographer, and feature writer for The Herald Journal in Logan, The Ogden Standard Examiner, The Bear River Valley News in Tremonton, The Box Elder Journal in Brigham City, The Deseret News in Salt Lake City, The Chache Citizen in Logan, The Leader in Tremonton. She also write and broadcast news for the Bear River Valley on KVNU Radio Station in Logan. Her news career in journalism started in 1930 while she was in high school. She retired 60 years later in 1990.

Flo co-authored a book Descendants of Samuel Benjamin and Maria Holton Pack, her grandparents, and recently published a book Life Sketch of George Godfrey, her father.

She and her cousin organized the Pack Family reunion in 1966 where Flo served a ssecretary for 24 years. She enjoyed tatting and netting.

Surviving are one son, E. Forrest Munson of Fielding; and many nephews & nieces.

Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at the Fielding Stake Center, with Bishop Norman Miller officiating.
