Howard L.L. Anderson, Pioneer Citizen of Trinidad, Resident Here Since 1888 Passed Away at His Home Earl Today
Howard L.L. Anderson, past 84 years old, one of the best know of pioneer citizens of Trinidad, resident of this city since 1888, passed away sometime early this moring at his home, 521 Prospect Stree. He had passed away in his sleep.
Mr. Anderson had been identified with the early business life of the city's industrial development. He had served one term in the state legislature of Colorado many years ago, had been engaged in real estate, and had with his brother, the late W.E. Anderson founded the old Trinidad Business College, which for many years occupied the location where the Junior College buildings now are. He was owner of considerable Trinidad property.
Mr. Anderson was born in Anamosa, Iowa, April 23, 1867 and came to Trinidad in 1888. It was at the time he became associated with his brother E.E. Anderson. From 1892 to 1898 he was engaged as a school teacher at Engleville, and in 1897-1898 served Las Animas county in the General Assembly of Colorado.
In 1895 he had engaged in real estate operations which he carried on for many years. In 1894 he had been married at Ottumwa, Iowa to Stella Langlford, who survives as his widow. He is also survived by daughters, Leola Anderson of Trinidad and Helen of Washington, D.C. and a son, Cecil E. Anderson of this city. Two grandsons are George and John, and a grandaughter is Mrs. Ralph Werden Jr. of Trinidad. A sister is Myrtle Anderson of this city. A brother is Cecil R. Anderson of Pittsburgh, PA and a nephew is B.O. Newnam of Trinidad.
