Graveside services for Maxine Elizabeth Berg, 64 of Caldwell, who died Saturday, Jan. 10 at the home of her daughter in Boise, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
The Rev. Thomas Blackburn of the Christian Community Center of Garden City, Idaho, will officiate, under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Berg was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Longmont, Colo., to Helmer T. and Bertha I. Rush Thorson. The family lived in numerous states before settling in Fort Collins, Colo., where she finished her education.
She married Ernest Edward Berg on Aug. 16, 1939, in Fort Collins, Colo., where the couple made their home. They came to Caldwell May 29, 1942. In 1962, she went to work for the College of Idaho as a custodian and worked there for 19 years. From 1981-1983 she worked for Van Buren and Caldwell High Schools as a custodian. Mr. Berg died May 29, 1972 in Caldwell. She also worked for the Child Development Center for the State of Idaho as a foster grandparent until the time of her death. She also worked at Don's Corner Grocery for a few years in the late 1950's.
She was baptized in the Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colo.
She is survived by a son, Edward E. (Linda) Berg of Pierce; a daughter, Juanita A. (Bill R.) Chrz of Boise; her mother, Bertha Thorson of Caldwell; two sisters, Blanche Rowell of Valley Center, Calif., and Grace Jones of Meridian; five grandchildren, Corinna, Laurie, Christy and Tony Chrz and Edward Berg; two nieces; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her father Helmer; two brothers, Benny and Ted; and a granddaughter, Catherine Berg.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, Monday until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon.
