Services for Mrs. A. J. Middleton, 74, of 809 S. Chestnut, Lufkin, were held Friday in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fletcher Erwin, Rev. Richard Creech and Bro. Douglas Bowan officiating and burial following in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Middleton was born June 23, 1898, in Cherokee County and died Wednesday in a local hospital. She had resided in Angelina County for 46 years and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and former secretary of the Mary and Martha Class.

Survivors: husband, Lufkin; son, J. L. (Leonard), Wichita Falls, daughters, Mrs. Winfred Havard, Lufkin, Mrs. Hogue Forrest, Diboll, Mrs. Horace Fletcher, Elkhart, Mrs. James Burke, Jr. Henderson, Mrs. Jim Hawkins, Hobbs, NM; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Verna Middleton, New Waverly; sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Parise, Lufkin, and Mrs. Nettie Lusk, Livingston; brother, M. K. Perry, Rusk; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Oliver McKay, Ingrum Burke, James Fletcher, Hillery Glenn Havard, David Murphy and Louis Parise.
