George Carroll, son of Levi and Jane (Carroll)
Shaffer was born at Johnstown,Pa. Mar.25,1861, and passed away at a local hospital June 2,1932, after a little over two weeks of serious illness,being at the time of his death 71 years 2 months and 7days of age.
When but a small boy he came with his parents to the state of Iowa where they resided for several years.From there they went to reside at Norton,Kans. later coming to the state of Nebraska where he has made his home for the past fifty years.
Following his marriage to Cora A. Burner of Forreston,Ill. on October 29,1889, they made their home at Odell,Nebr.where they lived for about 20 years.In 1910 they moved to Beatrice where they have since resided.
Mr. Shaffer united with the local Christian church during the ministry of Rev. Stevens where he continued to hold his membership throughout the years.
He is survived bt his sorrowing wife and the following children: Carrol B. Shaffer of Moorefield,Nebr.,Roy of Holmesville, Mrs.Alan Poage of El campa,Tex, Dwight,Cora and Berwin at home. One son preceded him in death
Besides the immediate family he is survived by six grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Frank A. of Orbisonia pa.,Charles A.of chicago,Ill.Mrs. George Bucher of Greeley,Colo,and Mrs. Etta Gutknecht of San Simeon, Calif.Two sisters are dead.
Mr.Shaffer was a great lover of his home and family ,a loyal neighor and friend and true to the ideals he believed to be right.During his illness he was very patient and appreciative of all the kindness performed in his behalf.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Saturday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev.R. B. Fouts and interment was in Evergreen Home cemetery.
