MRS.CORA A. SHAFFER
Cora A. daughter of John and Melissa (Click) Burner was born in Forreston,Ill. January 23,1872 and passed away at her home in this city (Beatrice) Friday September 19,1941
following an extended illness,being at the time of her death 69 years,seven months and 26 days of age.
She was united in marriage to George carroll Shaffer , October 23,1889. Immediately following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer came to makes their home in Gage county,Neb. They lived on a farm near Odell until 1910 when they came to the farm soutwest of Beatrice, which continued to be their home until the death of Mr. Shaffer in 1932.The following year the deceased moved to Beatrice to make her home at 1312 Ella street where she passed away.
The following children remain to mourn her passing: C. B. Shaffer of Moorefield ,Neb.; Roy of Holmesville; Dwight,residing at home ;Mrs. A.J. Poage of El Campo Texas; Mrs. Marion Morton,Beatrice and Berwin who resided on the home place.One son Orcille died at the age of six.
Besides the afore mentioned children she is survived by ten grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Hoak of Lanark Ill., one brother William Burner of Forreston,Ill.; one half brother Mark Burner who resides in Iowa,as well as a number of other relatives and a wide circle of friends.Two sisters have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shaffer united with the community church near Odell and upon coming to make her home near Beatrice she trensferred her membership to the First Christian church of this city where she was a most active and faithful member until her health failed.
The deceased was a loving and devoted wife and mother,a kind and sympathetic friend and neighbor,a sincere and earnest follower of her Lord.
