Conrad Brenning was born the 18th of Nov. 1877 at Kutter, Russia, the son of Johannes Brenning and Katherine Kilthau. At Kutter he was baptized and as a lad of 15 years he was confirmed in the religious faith of his fathers.
In 1895 he immigrated to the U.S. with his parents and they lived at McCook, Neb. Here he met and married Mary Gettman and he worked as a mechanic for the Burlington R.R. In 1908 the family moved to Colorado, farming for 15 years in the vicinity of Berthoud and Longmont. In 1922 he resumed employment with the Union Pacific Railroad in Cheyenne and this time for 23 years. In 1940 he returned to Longmont where he accepted employment with the Great Western Sugar Company. A year ago he went to San Leandro, Calif. to live with his daughters.
He passed away Dec. 20, 1959 at the age of 82 years, one month and 2 days.
He is survived by 4 sons: Lucas of San Carlos, Calif., Albert of San Mateo, Calif., Reuben of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Ralph of Brighton, Colo.; 5 daughters, Mrs. Katie Burch and Mrs. Helen Hart of San Leandro, Calif., Mrs. Laura Smith of Dixon, Calif., Mrs. Frieda Nelson of Mead, Colo., and Mrs. Rose Wokersin of Mead; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
Mr. Brenning was greatly beloved and respected by a large circle of friends and acquaintances who filled the Funeral Chapel of the Llewellen Funeral Home at Longmont where memorial services were held in his honor on the 28th of Dec. 1959.
He is survived by 4 sons: Lucas of San Carlos, Calif., Albert of San Mateo, Calif., Reuben of Cheyenne, wyo., and Ralph of Brighton, Colo.; 5 daughters, Mrs. Katie Burch and Mrs. Helen Hart of San Leandro, Calif., Mrs. Laura Smith of Dix, Calif., Mrs. Freda Nelson of Mead, Colo., and Mrs. Rose Wokers of Mead, 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.
