Glen (Pete) Cunningham of Elm Mott, a retired firefighter, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was 70.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Cecil Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Gerald Cemetery.

Mr. Cunningham was born April 8, 1923, in Hillsboro. He was a six year veteran of the Army Air Corps. In 1950 he went to work for James Connally Air Force Base and later for Texas State Technical College as a firefighter until his retirement in 1985.

He was active in Little League and Cub Scouts in the Elm Mott area for many years.

Survivor include his wife, Effie (Deanie) Cunningham; two sons, Harvey L. Cunningham of Gholson and Charles G. Cunningham of Lacy-Lakeview; three sisters, Eulia Mae Bilton of Bellmead; Ava Nell Riley of Mount Calm and Betty Joe Stolsworth of Beverly Hills; four brothers, Russell Bryan Cunningham of Waco, Owen Buford Cunningham of Elm Mott, Ben R. Cunningham of Lacy-Lakeview and Virgil R. Cunningham of Robinson; and three grandchildren.

The family has designated Providence Heart Center for memorials.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
