Rites Mon for Pete Berney, 81--

Peter Berney, 81, a resident of the Wolbach community all his life, died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home here.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Leo Nielsen officiated with the McIntyre-Jacobsen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Victor Grossart, Wm. Grossart, Jr., Leon Berney, Clyde Berney, Glen Grossart and William Berney. Honorary pallbearers were George Rother, Wm. Borre, Joe Bergantzel, Reinhardt Schiebe, Scott Barr and Herman Klein.

Mrs. Victor Grossart and Miss Sandra Grossart sang "It is Well With My Soul" and "Softly and Tenderly" accompanied by the organist Mrs. Leo Nielsen.

Peter Berney was born October 5, 1881 at Wolbach, Nebraska, the son of Joseph and Ursula Berney and departed this life at his home in Wolbach on August 16, 1961 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 11 days. He and Bessie Imus were married Sept 28, 1904 at Wolbach. Six children were born to this union. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Preceding him in death were a son, his parents, two sisters and four brothers.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Lola Silk of Cushing and Mrs. Velda Vogt of Humphrey, Missouri; three sons, Leland of San Gabriel, California, Loyal of Wolbach and Virgil of Palmer; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Grossart and Mrs. Emma Grossart, both of Wolbach; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
