Leland P. Berney, 84 of Bend, Ore, formerly of Wolbach, died Thursday, May 18, 1995, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 am Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Rev. Marsha Jark-Swain will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Berney was born April 29, 1911 in Wolbach to Peter and Emma (Imus) Berney. He was raised in the Wolbach area and attended District 27 School near Wolbach. After his schooling, he worked as a farmhand near Wolbach.

He married Doris Borre on Mach 29, 1935 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Wolbach. In the early 1940's, he worked as a mechanic in Wolbach.

In 1944, the couple moved to Los Angeles, where he worked at North American Aviation as a riveter on the P-51 Mustang airplane. After World War II he worked in San Gabriel, Calif, as a Ford mechanic until his retirement in 1976. In the fall of 1990, the couple moved to Bend to be near their son.

Mr. Berney was active in the Boy Scouts and enjoyed playing golf and cribbage.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; one son, Robert of Bend; two grandchildren; one brother, Virgil of Palmer, and two sisters, Lola Silk of Palmer and Velda Vogt of Green City, MO.
