SAMUEL M. WEST.
Another pioneer of San Bernardino, Samuel M. West, who for 55 years has been a resident of this city, has passed beyond. Death came at his home on Arrowhead avenue yesterday after a six months' illness.
Mr. West was a well-known pioneer and was an active participant in city affairs during the early days. He was born in Mississippi in 1849 and at an early age was brought to this vicinity by his parents.
He leaves two children, Mrs. Frank Rowe and Will West, both of this city and seven brothers and sisters, Geo. West, and Japtha West of this city; James West of Needles; F. J. West, of Fresno; Mrs. William Nee and Mrs. C. A. Moore (More) of this city and Mrs. R. J. Arey of Los Angeles.
The funeral services are to take place tomorrow afternoon from the parlors of the McDonald Undertaking company.
