Obituary, from the collection of Nancy Maye (Akers) Barnes

JASON GRANT BARNES

Jason Grant Barnes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dossie Barnes of near New Enterprise, died at the home of his parents Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock after a short illness. The boy had been suffering from a boil on his temple, which apparently healed, but opened on the inside, next to the brain, causing his death. His condition had been serious since Wednesday of last week. Several doctors were called in and a nurse attended him, but nothing could be done to save his life. He was a student of the Replogle High school at New Enterprise, and would have been a member of the Sophomore class this fall. He was very highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was born at Clearville on May 18, 1920, and besides his parents, is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Roy of Colver; Clarence who is attending a school of aviation at Riverside, Calif.; Alfred, Blanche, Elden, Bertha, Sherman, Merle, and Elmer, all at home. Funeral services were conducted at Clearville Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. D.I. Pepple, and interment was made at that place.

[no date; according to his death certificate and tombstone, Jason Grant Barnes died 26 Aug 1934 - ed.]
