COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Lloyd E. Maxwell Sr., 86, of Cookeville will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, from Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. tonight, Dec. 28.

Mr. Maxwell died on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Standing Stone Health Care.

He was born on Jan. 17, 1913, in Putnam County to the late A.W. (Big Alf) and Avo Whorley Maxwell. He was a police officer.

His family includes his wife, Leona Maxwell of Cookeville; a son, Lloyd E. Maxwell Jr. of Michigan; a granddaughter, Rebecca Rice of Cookeville; three sisters, Effie Lou Ray of Florida and Mable Buskirk and Ella Mae Burgess, both of Cookeville; and four brothers, Lillard and Tom Maxwell, both of Cookeville, Clayborn Maxwell of Sparta and Hooper Maxwell of Crossville.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by four sisters, Odell Grider, Gritharie Knapp, Myrtle Fliss Young, and Maude Purvis, and two brothers, Ernest V. and J.T. Maxwell.

Bros. Hillier Duke and Carson Whiteaker will officiate at the services.
