Funeral services for America Avo Maxwell, 89, will be held at the chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home Tuesday, March 6 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Everett Hooper, the Rev. Leroy Langley and the Rev. Andrew Albert officiating. Mrs. Maxwell died March 2 in the Cumberland Medical Center.
Burial will be in the Crest Lawn Cemetery.
She was a native of Tennessee and the daughter of the late Mack and Lucinda Bussell Worley, and the widow of the late A.W. Maxwell.
She is survived by six sons, Tom, Lillard and Ernest Maxwell of Cookeville, Hooper Maxwell of Fairfield Glade, Tenn., Lloyd Maxwell of Detroit, Mich., Claiborne Maxwell of Sparta; six daughters, Mrs. Odell Grinder of Hazel Park, Mich., Mrs. Myrtle Fliss of Rochester, Mich., Mrs. Maude Purvis of Hollywood, Fla., Mrs. Effie Lou Ray of Miami, Mrs. Ella Mae Burgess and Mrs. Mable Buskirk of Cookeville; 30 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
