Hermann Otto Blankenstein was baptized September 22, 1887, at his parents' home by the pastor of the Perry German Methodist Church of Perry, Falls County, Texas.

Herman died at the age of five years. Since his parents were living in McClanahan (then called Center), which is just east of Marlin, it is believed he is buried in an unmarked grave in the McClanahan Cemetery.

Herman Blankenstein was survived in death by his parents, Gottfried Blankenstein and Marie Friedrichs Blankenstein; a brother, Richard Blankenstein and two sisters, Mamie and Rose Blankenstein; his paternal grandfather, Gottfried Blankenstein; his maternal grandmother, Dorothea Luddeman Friedrichs; and a maternal great-grandfather, Johann Heinrich Friedrichs.
