Oliver O. Abbet, 92, Iberia, died Friday, Jan 9, 1981, at Breech Medical Center in Lebanon. Mr. Abbet had been a resident of Lebanon nursing home since May 1979.

He was born Nov. 22, 1888, in Miller County to John and Lucinda Prock Abbet. He first was married on March 10, 1907, to Anna Newhart who died May 29, 1962. On March 4, 1964, he was married to Florence Stark Burnett, who survives.

A retired merchant and farmer, Mr. Abbet had owned a hardware store in Iberia at one time. He was a 50-year member of Iberia Lodge 410, AF & AM. He also was a member of the Mt. Zion Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Abbet leaves two daughters, Mrs. Faye Arnold, Lebanon, and Mrs. Prue Humphrey, Waynesville; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Shelton, Crocker, Mrs. Grace Ransom and Mrs. Alma Dickerson, both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; six step-children; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia with Bro Gene Edwards officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery. Masonic rites were performed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
