Ernest was the son of Ernest August Blankenstein and Myra Evelyn "Nannie" Weeks Blankenstein. Ernest first married Nora Aquilar on Aug. 22, 1921 in Waco, Tx., and he secondly married Mrs. Mittie (Brown) Deaver on April 5, 1942, in Temple, Tx.

OBITUARY FROM THE TEMPLE DAILY TELEGRAM:
Long Resident Of Temple Dies: Burial Saturday
Ernest E. Blankenstein, 68, long-time resident of Temple, died Friday morning in a Temple hospital after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 10, 1890, in Waco. He was a veteran of World War I had been employed at the Veterans Administration Center here for 15 years. Blankenstein was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors are the wife; a daughter, Mrs. W. W. Walton of Breckenridge; a son, Roy, of San Antonio; two stepchildren, J. D. Deaver of Tyler and Mrs. Louise Luck of Temple; four sisters, Mrs. Dora Schott of La Grange, Mrs. Ben Albright of Temple, Mrs. George Posey, Temple, Mrs. Alice Willis of San Saba; three brothers, Walter of Fort Worth, Chris and Henry, both of Temple. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Saturday in Hewett Funeral Home of Temple. Rev. B. A. Bledsoe will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Clarence Honeycutt, Tom Pendley, L. R. Durden, O. L. Grimes, H. Gibson and E. T. Hanna.
