OBITUARY FROM THE TEMPLE DAILY TELEGRAM, Dec. 11, 1944
Mrs. Blankenstein Dies; Rites Here At 4 P.M. Today
Mrs. E. Blankenstein, 79, died at her home in Temple Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock after an illness of one week. She was born in Marlin, March 7, 1865 and was formerly Miss Nannie Weeks, and was married to E. Blankenstein July 17, 1884. She had lived in Temple for the past 50 years and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. She is survived by four sons, Walter of Fort Worth, Chris, Henry and Ernest, all of Temple; four daughters, Mrs. R. M. Schott of La Grange, Mrs. Ben Albright and Mrs. George Posey of Temple, Mrs. A. W. Willis of Bryan; one half-brother, Tom Weeks of Chilton; one half-sister, Mrs. W. W. Mays of Lufkin, 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband March 23, 1937 and by two sons and two daughters. Funeral services will be held at the Hewett Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Rev. I. J. Haag will officiate and burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Active pallbearers: Bill Whitehead, John Ebner, Maxwell Campbell, S. H. Eschberger, S. H. Cauthen, and Frank Doering.
