BELTON -- Chris A. Blankenstein, 87, of Route 6, Belton died Sunday at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Temple with the Rev. Doug Stolleis officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mr. Blankenstein was a life-long resident of Bell County. He played professional baseball as a young man. He was a member of the Bell County Sportsman Club and SPJST Lodge No. 87. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea Blankenstein, in 1983 and by one grandson, Gene Tibbs, in 1981. Survivors are one son, Harold Blankenstein of Belton; one daughter, Frances Evelyn Lindeman of Temple; two sisters, Ida "Eda" Albright and Margaret Posey, both of Temple; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
