Joseph Simeon (Sim) Weston 1919 ~ 2010 Joseph Simeon (Sim) Weston, 90, passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Friday, March 19. Sim was born on July 17, 1919 in Laketown, Utah to Lauretta Pearl Early and Benjamin Weston. He was the sixth of 12 children. Sim attended North Rich High School in Laketown, Utah. He married Reta Wilson on September 7, 1942. They moved to the ranch on the Bear River where he ranched with his brothers. They later moved to Randolph so their girls could attend school. Sim was a cowboy in the truest sense of the word. He was a successful cattle rancher and had a great love for the Bear River valley and his horses. He was also in the sheep business and restaurant industry. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease. He was a large man with a gentle soul. He loved family gatherings at the ranch and enjoyed his grandkids. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as Young Men President. He served in various organizations including President of the Utah Cattlemen's Association, Regional Vice-President of the National Cattlemen's Association, President of local cattle association, President of the Woodruff Narrows Reservoir Association, Bear River Commission, Rich County Commissioner, Randolph Town Board, and State Brand Board. Survived by his wife Reta, daughters Sharon (Dale) Guertzgen, Kayleen (Ron) Stuart, all of Randolph, and Shirley (Reed) Olsen of Brigham City, Utah; sisters LaRue Calder, Betty Lou Richelson, Hazel Richardson, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, son-in-law Dean Stuart, great-granddaughters Sophia Sage Bell and Hadlee Ann Hoffinan. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at the Randolph L.D.S. Chapel, with a visitation being held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, and again from 10:30 until the time of the services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be held at the Randolph Cemetery, Randolph, Utah. Arrangements under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Evanston, WY.
