Laketown, Utah â€" Norman Earley Weston, 90, passed from this life to meet his Savior and his beloved wife, Nethelle, at 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2006. He was at home in care of his family. He was born Nov. 23, 1915, to Benjamin and Lauretta Pearl Weston, their fourth of 12 children. He lived a full life on his family ranch in Laketown and Randolph, Utah. He loved his wife and family, a good horse and being a top cattleman. He made it a habit to pursue excellence.
Norman served in many different civil and church capacities. He graduated from North Rich High School serving two years as student body president. He served in various church callings including bishop for eight years, as first counselor to Bishop Amos Robinson for ten years, high councilor for 13 years, president of YMMIA and served a mission in the British Isles. He was a county commissioner for six years, on the school board for 12 years and served as Logan Temple Officiators for five years. In 1975 he was the cattleman of the year. Norman loved sports and being in the outdoors working a good team or making a good saddle horse out of a bronc.
Norman and Nethelle were the parents of 11 children, McKay (deceased) (Lorna) Weston of Laketown, Catherine (deceased) (Thane) Telford of Mona, Utah, N. Seth (Suzi) Weston of Randolph, Lanny K. (Sheryl) Weston of Laketown, Sheila (Wayne) Argyle of Randolph, Monty (Diane) Weston of Randolph, Jeanette (Wallace) Schulthess of Woodruff, Utah, James Weston (deceased), Burdette (Holly) Weston of Laketown, Norman A. (Debbie) Weston of Randolph, and Simeon B. (JoJean) Weston of Laketown; 60 grandchildren; 98 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Simeon (Rita) Weston of Randolph; and four sisters, Barbara Izatt of Logan, Betty Lou Richelson, Hazel Richards, and LaRue Calder, all of Mesquite, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nethelle Wilkes; three children; one grandchild, Stephanie; and one great-great-grandson, Quincey Jackson; three brothers, George Wesley, Morrell and Benjamin E.; and three sisters, Bernice, Letha and Lorraine.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, Oct. 13, in the Laketown LDS Chapel. Friends may visit with family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Laketown church and from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Friday before the funeral. The interment will be in the Laketown Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
